About Us

Cresava is a material innovation company exploring natural fibres from origin to application, connecting traditional knowledge, contemporary experimentation, and design-led development.

Rethinking Material origins for contemporary application

Our Beginning

Our work began with a simple question: how can materials be rethought from their source?

Rather than focusing only on end products, we looked upstream, towards fibre, process, and the systems that shape them.

This early exploration centred on re-evaluating unused fibres and reconsidering how materials move through industry and everyday life.

Washi

Working in Japan, we encountered washi,  a material deeply embedded in the country’s cultural and material history.

Lightweight, strong, and uniquely tactile, it revealed new potential: not only as paper, but as fibre. This shifted our focus — from re-editing materials to understanding them at their origin.

Today

Today, Cresava develops washi-based and natural fibre threads and materials for contemporary textile applications.

Our approach combines traditional knowledge with experimental development, working across agriculture, craftsmanship, and production.

We see materials as part of a continuous system,  from raw fibre to finished application, and continue to explore how natural fibres can extend beyond conventional textile boundaries.
